How to style orange

28 February 2015

Hi dolls ! This is something I've been saying quite a lot recently on the blog : I am getting out of my comfort zone when it comes to fashion. And for me, this translates by wearing more vibrant colours. I usually love wearing colorful lipsticks with very strong pigments but when it comes to my wardrobe, I just seem to always go back to black. This Spring, I want to experiment more with red and orange. Last week I share with you How to Style a Red Suit and today, it's all about adding that touch of coral to your looks.

You can just go for it and wear some really strong bold orange pieces or simply add some small items in your outfit. Orange looks great with black, grey and white and just makes any look more lively !

This is it for today, I hope you guys enjoyed. Let me know what you think about orange, is it a colour you would like to wear or not your taste ? Make sure to come back tomorrow for my Huge Makeup Revolution giveaway (10 lipsticks to win) ! I wish you a lovely day !

Street Chic Army Jacket Look

27 February 2015

Outfit :
Jacket : Primark 9€ (sales)
Jumper : Primark 12€
Skirt : Primark 15€
Shoes : Primark 12€
Beanie : Ebay 2€

Hi babes ! This outfit reminds me SO much of the not so good old days back in College ! Almost everyday, I'd wear all black with my Primark Army Jacket and my neon green beanie. That was it. I sure didn't look like a fashion blogger back in College, or like I had any interest in fashion at all. I finished 6 months ago already and it's time to put my army jacket back on but this time, with some edge.

I decided to pair my jacket and neon beanie with two other very bold pieces : faux leather midi skirt and nude heels. Khaki and neon green/lime go perfectly together. You can't go wrong with black or beige as well. For this look, I decided to wear all of these colours. If it's too much for you, you can always wear black shoes instead, or remove the beanie. I know a lot of people that think they can't pull off this colour, I personally love it, especially during winter. This is one of the many ways how to style an army jacket. I am obsessed with khaki at the moment, which is pretty weird since it's a colour I have been against for years now. This jacket was the only khaki item I owned. But fashion trends come and go and this Spring, I will be wearing a lot of khaki. I already bought a gorgeous jumpsuit from Primark, I shared some pictures of it on my social media, make sure to check it out. I will be posting the full look very soon.

This is it for today, I hope you guys enjoyed this look. Let me know what is your go-to jacket for school/college or work. This one was mine for two years ! I wish you a lovely day !

Makeup Revolution Iconic Pro 2 Palette Review

26 February 2015

Hi babes ! I am back with another Makeup Revolution Eye Shadow palette review ! They sent me this one about two weeks ago, I have been playing with it daily so here is what I think.

PRICE : For 7 £ you have 16 shades which is extremely cheap.

PACKAGING : For this palette, Makeup Revolution changed their packaging and made the top lid matte which is super pretty. I actually like the fact that most their palettes have the same size, it makes it very easy to store. There is as usual a huge mirror inside which is always a plus to me.

SHADES : In this palette, you have a lovely selection of matte and shimmery colours. You have your nudes and then some more fun colours like khaki, silver and plum. The pigmentation is very good, especially for the price.

TEXTURE : There is a good pigmentation and they are quite easy to blend. However, they are not as creamy as the ones in the Flawless matte palette which blew my mind. But at least, the Iconic Pro 2 palette has some shimmery shades that makes it more versatile.

BRUSH : The brush is the one thing I didn't really love about the palette. It's alright. I use the Makeup Revolution face brushes everyday, I love them, but I am having troubles with their eye brushes. The hair is extremely dense which makes them suitable for detailed look. But if you are a girl like me that barely uses 2 colours of eyeshadows, this brush doesn't work well on the full lid. Again, I'm probably not using it perfectly. I just know that I love big fluffy eyeshadow brushes that allow me to go all over the eyelid in one go. But that's just my personal preferences.

In general, it's another good Makeup Revolution Palette. Large selection of shades, small price, big mirror, matte and shimmery colours. You can't really go wrong with this palette. The pigmentation is good as you can see on the pictures above and the packaging makes it look more expensive than it really is. I am very pleased with it and would recommend it to anyone. However, I wouldn't say I love it as much as the Flawless Matte Palette which is a favourite of mine ! If unlike me, you really need your shimmery colours, then this palette is probably for you. There is another one with other shades that might suit you even more.

This is it for today, I hope you guys enjoyed ! Don't forget to stay tuned for this Sunday's Makeup Revolution Lipstick Velour FULL collection giveaway ! I wish you a lovely day !

Neon pink Jumper & White Midi Skirt

25 February 2015

Outfit :
Jumper : New Look 6€ (sales)
Skirt : No idea sorry
Shoes : Primark 15€

Hi babes ! I am back with another outfit which is quite out of my comfort zone. I made it clear to myself that this year, I would try different things. With my closet, it was translated by wearing more colours. I have done some shopping this week and got some seriously colorful items that I can't wait to share with you.

First, here is a jumper a bought a few weeks ago at New Look during their sales. The material is so lovely and I really like the neon pink colour that I usually wear on my lips. I am thinking of wearing more pink, especially with the warm weather coming, it will look great with a tan !

I bought this skirt last year and I can't remember where or how much. I know it was cheap (cause that's me) and if it was more than 15€ I'd remember. This is quite a simple look, a big jumper with a midi skirt and black heels. I am slowly trying to get out of my all black, all grey looks. But as I know myself, it's never for long !

This is it for today, I hope you enjoyed my outfit of the day. My Pink in Tokyo giveaway is now over, thank you for entering, I will announce the winners on my Twitter and Facebook. I am having another big giveaway this Sunday. You will be able to win 10 makeup revolution lipsticks, so make sure to stay tuned for that ! I wish you a lovely day !

Etude House February Pink Box

24 February 2015

Hi babes ! I am back with another Etude House Pink Box opening ! I am super excited to share the products I've received from the brand with you. This month, the pink box was Chocolate themed and delicious looking.

Etude House always pays so much attention to details, especially to their packagings. I really loved playing with the two adorable eyeshadows.  Their packaging is very reminiscent of the old adds from the 40's and 50's. Inside each box is a small duo eyeshadow chocolate shaped. This is really cute and smells amazing !! As usual with Etude House, the pigmentation is from light to medium, nothing too dramatic.

On to my favourite items of the box : the Etude House nail polishes ! Their nail products are really good this is why I'm always excited when they send me some. The three shades are smelling like chocolate, so lovely. They all dry really fast and are so pigmented, one coat is enough. If the blue and the dark brown are a new must in my collection, the red/brown one was just weird on my nails. It didn't apply properly for some reasons and was patchy once dried. I don't know if I did something wrong or if the formulation of this particular one was different. Anyway, the two others are still amazing, I  just won't be using the third one.

This Etude House Any Cushion (shade natural beige) compact foundation is way too light for me. However, I managed to still be able to wear it by applying it under my eyes to brighten my face. The texture is extremely light and moisturising and it does add a lot of brightness to the face.

This is it for the Etude House Pink Box opening and review. There are some pretty good products that I will be using, I was very pleased with this month's box. Let me know what you thought about this and I wish you a lovely day !

Spring 2015 Womens Shoes

23 February 2015

Hi beautiful ! As you may know, like many other girls, I have a thing for shoes. I just never seem to have enough of them, I always want more. Here is a list of cheap shoes I would love to have for this Spring/Summer season. I actually would have bought these H&M boots already but they are just not available in my closest store. Don't you just hate when that happens ? Anyway, it's not like I needed another pair of black heels...

I also have been loving orange recently. This year really is the one where I try to move away from all black outfits and dare more bold pieces. I feel like that a simple pair of orange high heels can spice up any outfits, even the most casual ones.

This is it for today I hope you guys enjoyed. Don't forget to enter my Pink in Tokyo giveaway that ends this week. I also have a massive Makeup Revolution lipsticks giveaway starting this Sunday so stay tuned for that ! I wish you a lovely day.

Sponsored posts & reviews, can we trust bloggers ?

22 February 2015

In the last #fblchat , we were talking about disclaimers , sponsored posts etc. This subject was very interesting but it highlighted the lack of trust bloggers get for doing sponsored posts. I personally almost never do them, I mainly review products sent by companies. But the idea I want to discuss today with you actually works for both. During the chat, I was talking with a bunch of lovely bloggers that all had very different opinions. Some didn’t care if the review or blog post was sponsored, if the blogger says its their opinion, it is. Others said that the moment they knew the blog post was in any way financed by a company, it just wasn’t as legitimate. This is an open conversation, I am going to develop my opinion as a blogger and reader, feel free to share with me your take on this subject.

This is something every blogger agreed on, we should always disclaim whether the blog post is sponsored or not, if we received an item for free in return of a review etc. This is to prove your transparency and inform your readers. However, after talking with other bloggers during the chat, I realised that when people know the blog post is sponsored, they don’t trust the writer anymore. So as a blogger, you disclaim that this blog post is sponsored, that the opinion expressed in it is yours and still, people don’t believe you as much anymore. What frustrated me the most about that was that it was coming from fellow bloggers. As a blogger you know how it works,  you know you shouldn’t lie to your readers so why being suspicious and think that other bloggers can lie even with a clear disclaimer ?

This interesting conversation went on with a group of bloggers. I realised that by trying to be as honest as possible and disclaim everything, I was also losing some legitimacy. I have a page on my blog saying that every review is my own opinion like many other bloggers, so is there really anything more we can do not to lose any trust ?

I will use the example of makeup since this is the one thing I review on the blog. We all know that a cream, a foundation or anything else won’t work the same from a person to another simply because we all are unique. A foundation sent by a brand will probably look great on me, I’ll recommend it to you. But then, on you, it will look patchy and dry so you’ll hate it. Does it mean I lied for the money ? No. My experience with a product and a service was different simply because we are different. I have another type of skin, another type of water, skincare routine, brushes, application techniques etc. With this example I am illustrating the fact that some readers take reviews way too seriously. If you buy a product a blogger recommended via a sponsored post and you hate it, it didn’t mean they lied.

Reviews are there to guide you, give you some information and tips but at the end, you are the only judge. If I recommend a product I bought and you happen to hate it, would you forgive me more than for a product I was sent by a brand ? Can we really rely that much on reviews ? Are some bloggers liars or regular people that happened to like something and talked about it ?

I am not ashamed of it and I won’t apologize for wanting my blog to be my business. It doesn’t mean that for this I would do any random sponsored posts or lie on my reviews, no. It means that I am working hard to create opportunities that will turn my blog into something that pays my bills. Sponsored posts are part of it. If you feel like the blogger you are following isn’t honest no matter how transparent they are, you should probably move to the next blog.

At the end of the day, I never received any complaints from you guys saying that I wasn’t being honest and I thank you for that. But I still feel sad that some people think bloggers are not being honest simply because money is involved. It actually says more about your own relationship with money and trust than the blogger’s. No matter how much we worry about being transparent and honest, you, as a reader, decide to trust us or not.

I have a full chapter in my Ebook The Blogger Boss Guide on working with brands. I also dedicated several pages on ethics, transparency and honesty when doing sponsored post. If you want to learn more about it and read about my personal experiences (good and bad), you can check it out here.

This is it for today, I hope you guys enjoyed. Let me know what you think on the subject. Do you trust less bloggers when the blog post is sponsored ? Do you shame bloggers for wanting to make money out of their websites ? It’s an open conversation, no hate, let’s share how we feel ! I wish you a lovely day !

Kim Kardashian inspired look (Kanye West Adidas Show 2015)

21 February 2015

Shop the look :

Hi babes ! I haven't really been following Fashion Week this season but there is one Show I saw the pictures of that caught my eyes and it's the Kanye West x Adidas. If you follow my blog or even just met me, you'll know I love Kim Kardashian' style and it all started when she started dating Kanye. He added so much edge and glam to her look. So when I saw the pictures of the collection, I got really interested and actually loved what I saw.

There is something kind of post-apocalyptic to some of these looks. I loved the color scheme, edgy shoes with street wear items, the bomber jackets and nude leggings. So if you don't want to wait Adidas to release their collection and you already want to have this Kim Kardashian look, here is my own take on it with very affordable prices. I am for sure going on the hunt for some items inspired by these collection !

This is it for today, I hope you guys enjoyed. Let me know what you thought about this get the look. I did one before with Balmain Paris, is it something you'd like to see more often ? I wish you a lovely day !

Born Pretty Store Lipsticks Review

20 February 2015

Hi dolls ! I am back with a review that was planned since November with Born Pretty Store but we had some massive delivery delays. The products arrived a few weeks ago, I have been using these lipsticks and here is what I think !

As you can see on the pictures above, I had the pleasure to receive a true orange lipstick, a nude pink lipstick and a purple lipstick

The orange and the pink lipsticks are coming from the same collection and have the same finish. They are both extremely creamy and very pigmented. They are so soft on the lips they almost melt. I am very happy with the colours actually. I didn't expect to like this light pink so much but I do. It's very discrete and flirty. The orange lipstick is gorgeous. I love the fact that it's not a red with an orange undertone or a hot tomato red, it's a true orange. A lot of people find it harder to pull off, I personally love it. The only thing I am not too crazy about it the finish. I am a matte lipstick kind of girl. No matter how pretty and nice to wear the creamy finish is, I always go back to matte. For the pink lipstick I usually apply a generous coat and then dab the product on my mouth with my fingers to remove the excess, leaving a lovely tint. I am definitely going to wear the orange lipstick but not on its own, probably on top of an orange lip liner as a matte base. This lipstick will be a second coat to add some gorgeous orange pigments.

The purple lipstick is very similar to the two others. Very creamy and moisturising, it has quite a sheer finish. My lips have been very dry recently and it didn't cling on my lines. However, you won't see me wearing this one simply because I just don't like purple at all. This pink shade has too much of a cool undertone and it doesn't work for me. It's really rare to see me with something purple on, it almost never ever happens. But for the girls out there that like that colour, it's a good and creamy lipstick that will give a lovely amount of colours.

This is it for today, I hope you guys enjoyed my cheap lipstick review. There are way more lipstick shades you can chose from on the website Born Pretty Store. Let me know which colour from these three you prefer. I wish you a lovely day !

Spring Trend 2015 | How to Style Red Suits

19 February 2015

Hi beautiful babes ! You may have noticed that I've changed my blog design. I did it in the night as I was feeling sick and supposed to go to bed early. Now it's almost 3 am and I am still on the blog. I really liked my previous blog design that I changed only last month but there were too many details that didn't work with my blogging style. I hope you will like this new one, let me know what you think !

Anyway, today I am sharing with you a trend I have been loving since very recently, the red suit. I am not the kind of girl that wears a lot of colours. I usually compensate my all black outfits with colorful make up or hats. But since I've seen online this womens red suit trend, I have been obsessed ! There is something so elegant, simple and bold about an all red suit. I need to find one ASAP. They are actually quite easy to style as you can see above, with some nude heels or loafers and a t-shirt or a simple shirt, and you are good to go.

This is a trend I am definitely trying this year. Life is too short to wear only black, no matter how pretty it is ! If you feel like the red suit is too much for your taste, you can always start with red shoes or a red dress. Anyway, I will for sure share my look the moment I find the perfect affordable suit !

This is it for today, I hope you guys enjoyed. Let me know what you think about this trend, is it for you or too much ? Don't forget to enter my Pink in Tokyo giveaway, just a few days left ! I wish you a lovely day.

Cheap Nail Polish Clear Makeup Storage

18 February 2015

Hi beautiful babes ! I was looking for makeup storage ideas around my house and just thought "mmh...Maybe an empty Q-tips box can be useful ?" and it is !

I can't believe it took me so long to find the perfect nail polish storage when it has been in my house since for ever. I tried so many types of boxes but my nail polishes were always falling inside, they were not fitting properly and storage in general is expensive. As you can see on the pictures above, the Barry M nail polishes fit perfectly.

When it comes to makeup storage, you always want to put your items somewhere dry and away from the light. Especially with nail polishes and perfumes.

I can't believe how expensive clear makeup storage can be. Some are pretty amazing, made especially for specific types of items but at the end, it's a lot of money. For now, my 80 cents Q-tips boxes will be great as makeup organizer. You always need some in house, they are cheap and you recycle plastic. Since it's not super aesthetic, I store them inside prettier boxes. The cool thing with this home made makeup box is that you can collect several and stick them together to fit your drawers. The possibilities are pretty endless !

This is it for today, I hope you guys enjoyed ! Let me know if you already knew that trick, I personally found out about on my own and decided to share it with you straight away ! Feel free to share any of your makeup storage life hack ideas in the comment section. I wish you a lovely day !

Being a Fashion Blogger, expectations VS reality

17 February 2015

A few days ago, I saw a video of a French humorist pretending to be a Fashion Blogger. The video was a fake interview like "a day with...". The video was all about her life as a blogger, her work schedule, shopping etc. It was so funny and I could recognise myself way too often. Besides how hilarious the video was, it made me realise the image people have of fashion bloggers. Not once, someone said to me "it must be a lot of work to get where you are today". Never. They always say "you are so lucky". But it's no luck. Every single blog post is calculated, worked, planed. It is fun, interesting, but luck has very little to do with it. So I decided to share with you today my very own "Being a Fashion Blogger, expectations VS reality", it's a light hearted blog post, just a have a bit of fun !

OOTDs (Outfit of the day)

REALITY : You are all alone with your camera, your tripod and the clouds. The lighting changes all the time, you have 10 seconds to take 3 pictures in a row. You are too far. Now too close, we can't see your shoes. Out of focus, the colours are not neutral. The reality when shooting outfit of the day pictures is that you are the model ,the photographer and the assistant at the same time. These are three very distinct jobs made for three different people. But you're just a blogger, so you struggle with your tripod. It takes about 50 pictures to get a good one.

Special mention to the fashion bloggers living in countries like the UK or Ireland where the weather is against you almost everyday. It's always dark, even outside. When it's bright, it's always way too bright and your face is washed off. It will be raining as you just got started.

Casual Days

REALITY : You look like a mess. You put so much effort in your OOTDs that when you want to chill, you just get real. You are wearing your good old pyjamas, your hair is up, bra off, your skin doesn't look flawless and it's ok. You can't be pretty all the time and you shouldn't try. Some people expect fashion bloggers to always look their best. It's not because you like to dress that you have to do it everyday all day. Sometimes, you have to run errants and you just don't feel like matching your accessories to your nail polish. Personally, I don't even take the time to match both socks.

Work Space

REALITY : We all see these gorgeous pictures of people that managed to create a stylish and creativity friendly work space. My apartment is so small, I don't even have a desk. My work space is my actual kitchen table. I have an old Etude House box with items I need to remember to review inside, notebooks with random ideas and to do lists, as well as my photography equipment. Maybe some of you are always working in a neat environment, but when I do, my desk gets messy. To be honest, I would love to have such  a beautiful work space, but my reality is that I have to do with what I have (>>> kitchen table...).

Free Goodies

REALITY : Truth is, you won't receive much for a very long time, and when you do you won't have a large window of options. It's really awesome but people think that you get what you want all the time when in reality, the brands tell you that you can chose a certain amount of items from a certain collection. You are still quite restricted and you will have to buy yourself the items you really want/need. The image of the blogger with the huge and awesome wardrobe that doesn't have to pay for anything anymore isn't true for most of us.

REALITY : Not every blogger can afford a luxurious lifestyle just thanks to their blogs. It takes a while to start making money, and most of the time, blog posts are paid by brands via free items. All of that doesn't pay the bills and it sure doesn't pay for that Celine bag !

This is it for today, I hope you guys enjoyed ! It was a light hearted blog post to have a bit of fun ! Let me know what are the misconception about being a blogger you come across often.

Also, I wrote an Ebook called The Blogger Boss Guide ! Everything to get you started on the right track or to take your blog to the next level is in it ! Check it out here !

I wish you a lovely day !
